Comments about Easy Press French Fry Cutter:
I purchased this item from another company a little before I became WDrake's customer. But I think I can share my experience in case anyone here still has this gadget hanging around. On my first tryout, I used a real large Idaho potato, and although I followed all the instructions to the "t," there was no way to make the top of the gadget go down to make the slicing. My hubby couldn't do it either. I cleaned the gadget and wrapped it all up to return it, but time went by and I never did. So, I decided to give it another try before getting rid of it, and decided to try it using a small potato instead (like 2"x3"). I tried following the instructions as given, but still to no avail. Then, I made sure that I positioned the potato straight up and gave it a little help with my hand to engage it in the squared blades. I pushed it with the top once, but it didn't seem to do anything. So, I thought about using an old-fashion mortar and pestle (my never-fail manual food processor) and with gentle force so as not to mash the potato, I started pounding the potato down with the pestle (without the gadget's cover) until I got the potato almost level with the blades. Then at that point, I put the top part and gave it the last push with both my hands as they suggest in the instructions to do from the beginning, and Bingo! I had all the cut-up fries on my cutting board. I used the small deep fryer that I purchased from this store and they came out fantastic. But it took lot of steps to get to the final outcome. I have used it three times now in that fashion and it works for me. By the way, I have very weak hands. I just decided not go give up. My daughter who visits us loves french fries and it was the reason I purchased it. I would recommend this to anyone who is willing to follow my steps, if they like challenges. On another note, mine included some recipes and I noticed that in most of the recipes they say to cook the vegetables a little bit first. I haven't tried doing that, nor I intend to, now that I found my solution. (LOL)

Did all the instructions said to do--took all my strength and that of my husband. Unable to cut fires. My husband took it to his shop and used a press to cut the fries. If blade is indeed sharp it sure fooled me. May work on a softer vegetable like zucchini.
