this product was purchased for my father who was discharged home after recovering from a stroke. he has two bathrooms. the other option was to remove the collection bowl from the portable commode and simply put the frame over the toliet. unless you absolutely need handles on each side to get yourself up from the toliet, this riser serves the purpose perfectly at a fraction of the cost of a portable commode. would definitely buy this product again. in fact, i was thinking it would be perfect for anyone with a "bad back" too.
