Owlhoot Wins the Day

Comments about Motion Sensor Owl:
It's too light for outdoor use. Purchase marbles (don't use sand, BBs too expensive), place in base, seal and use! Move it constantly so birds don't be come accustomed to it. Good luck!

The sound part quit working almost right after we received it; then the head motion part quit working also after only having it two weeks. Putting new batteries in it didn't help any.
Bottom LineNo, I would not recommend this to a friend
Totally Unreliable and ineffective
from Hilliard Florida
The owl's hooting is inconsistent; low volumn, motion sensor is unreliable even at close range. I used them to deter deer from my rose beds and they did not meet the challenge. I made certain that I used the correct battery and changed thoem every 5 10 days. This was a total waste of my time and money. They just stood there on the pole mountings that we errected. We were not tole we would need special mounting devices. I am so disappointed; my roses were completed devoured by the deer.

The advertising for this owl is false. We received the owl and immediately noticed the wide gap between the neck and body of the owl. My hubby pointed out the wires and motor that could be seen and commented that this thing isn't weather proof. After looking over the box it came in we found the phrase FOR INDOOR USE ONLY. This phrase had been covered up by a blank white sticker. This is more of a figurine or prank owl than an actual owl to scare birds, squirrels away.

Was only out for one day -- rained and then it did not work again. Should be better for outdoor use. Would not recommend for anyone to purchase.
A silent owl?
from Holyoke, MA
I had to shut off the voice since it was bothersome to my neighbors and kept my son awake. Without that feature, I'm not sure if it works to scare away the pigeons.. Time will tell

Pet food free from droppings
By pet lover
About Me Budget Shopper
We use our owls to place in front of our dogs food bowls. No more bird droppings in, on, or around the dishes. The minute you take them away you have a mess. We have used them for years and it doesn't seem to bother the dogs. A must have for pet owners with outside animals.

IT WORKS GREAT AT CHASING AWAY THE BIRDS, BUT IT WAS ON A COVERED PORCH AND BLEW OFF THE LEDGE WHERE IT WAS POSITIONED BECAUSE IT IS SO LIGHT AND BROKE. I WISH IT HAD HAD A WEIGHTED BASE TO MAKE IT MORE STABLE.
doesn't work for me

The motion detector only works sometimes and the movement has to be within inches to activate it. It is, as others have noted, unstable. I have held it in place with rocks around the base, but a strong wind still knocked it over. It's a cute gadget, but doesn't work for my purposes of descouraging geese off the lawn.
