BUYER BEWARE
By PATTIE KATE

About Me Budget Shopper
Comments about Sensor Owl:
IT WORKS GREAT AT CHASING AWAY THE BIRDS, BUT IT WAS ON A COVERED PORCH AND BLEW OFF THE LEDGE WHERE IT WAS POSITIONED BECAUSE IT IS SO LIGHT AND BROKE. I WISH IT HAD HAD A WEIGHTED BASE TO MAKE IT MORE STABLE.
doesn't work for me
By Goose chaser
from NE Pennsylvania
The motion detector only works sometimes and the movement has to be within inches to activate it. It is, as others have noted, unstable. I have held it in place with rocks around the base, but a strong wind still knocked it over. It's a cute gadget, but doesn't work for my purposes of descouraging geese off the lawn.

useless

A bird landed right on my railing, next to the owlthe bird left a package, the owl, did not do its job. a total waste of money
It's A Hoot!
By Did It Myself
from Sebring, FL
I was hoping to hang this from the eaves, but the design of the moving head pretty much precludes hanging it, so it is placed on a flat surface. Also, it is a bit top heavy so it must be flat surface, or it may topple over.
Very cute

Cute and works. I just wish it had a weighted bottom.

It's OK
By Sherry48

I am on a 4th floor, near a tree, and need to keep squirrels off the balcony and away from plants. It was a little hard to find a place that would be dry but still close enough to activate the sound and keep the squirrels away.
Sensor Owl
By Window block
from Sanford, NC
Put in screen porch and it lets me know when someone comes in the porch. I can't leave outside because it has to be in a protected area because of the batteries in it.
Not worth the price.
By Terrie

IT DOESN'T DO WHAT IT SAYS , IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A TRAIN THAN AN OWL. HEAD DOESN'T SPIN AND EYES DON'T GLOW.
Works like a charm

Works well
By pattycake

Had a different owl before where the head did not turn. Head movement is an advantage. The firstone, the colors came off so when this new andimproved on came I sprayed it with clear paint tomake it last longer and stay looking new.

HAVE NOT REALLY HAD A CHANCE TO SEE IF THIS IS GOING TO KEEP THE BIRDS AWAY FROM MY FRIUT TREES YET,, BUT IF I WAS A BIRD I THINK I WOULD STAY AWAY

The sensor Owl doesn't detect as advertised. You need to sweep your hand withen inches of the sensor opening before it detects. I purchased it as a deturrent to birds for my boat.
Great Product

Scare birds (especally doves) away roosting in tree in front of house because the [*] on the sidewalk. The Head motion is more effective than the hoot.
Should have known better
By NL

Put two sets of batteries in it. Worked for one minute, then quit. Wind blew it off the porch. I hung it with a wire whcih moves with the breeeze...seems to deter squirrels.
Works on most pests!
By Horse barn owner
from Fair Bluff, NC
I use this owl inside my horse barn to deter swallows from nesting. It helps but it does not impress them all. Swallows are very difficult to deter, this owl has helped reduce the population dramatically, but not completely. The starlings are very afraid of it!

Not a "Wise" purchase.
By Cindy

Purchased 2 owls. Added batteries and neither owl worked when an object or person moved in front of them. Would wave hand in front of owls and still would not work. Would not recommend this product.

I used to owl to scare away Pigeons and so far it has worked. I ordered the mugs to match my new kitchen and they are very nice although I wish they were bigger. And the grout pen.....I have not used yet. Other than it took a very long time for my order to be delivered I am happy with my purchase and will order again in the future.
I would buy again!!!!

Good but could be better
By Mister D

The owl would work better if you could hang it from a tree or post. it is very light so it is hard to keep upright.

Absolutely useless

WD should not even be selling this item. Worked for about 10 seconds! Tried several sets of new batteries - nothing! I think it probably has a bad solar cell - in any case it was a total was of money!
Cold air affect?
By Sally
from Eugene
I really like it but why does it not want to work in chilly weather? Does the weather affect the batteries? I want it to keep the squirrels away from my blueberry buds.
it seems to be working somewhat.

Refund requested
By oldfolky
from Topock, AZ
We ordered the motion sensor owl to use on a small building here in town where we've had trouble with pigeons. They pigeons simply laughed at a larger stationary owl statue we put up so we'd thought we'd try the sensor owl. Silly us, we figured it would be as big as the stationary owl we'd had and would have a voice to go with the body. The owl was less than half the size of the previous one that did not work, the motion sensor was marginal and it's hooting(if that's what you can call it) sound wouldn't frighten a sparrow. All I want is a refund.
Great Sensor Owl
By Windy
from Buckeye, AZ
This is the perfect thing to get rid of pigeons. We did not want to shoot or poison them, we just wanted them gone. They were so messy and noisy, but when we put the owl out, we no longer have a problem.
Motion Sensor Owl
By Yardbird1941
from Browns Valley, CA
About Me Avid Gardener
There is a woodpecker which developed the habit of pecking little holes in my polyurethane roof. The motion-sensitive owl isn't sensitive enough to react to the woodpecker's motion, but for the present, the owl's presence seems to discourage him from even landing on the roof. I guess this qualifies as success.I'm a little disappointed that the owl doesn't react to the woodpecker. For the price I paid, I would have expected that, at least.
Not a good buy
By CT1

The owl quit working after 3 days. The "hoot" was un-realistic.
Should work but doesn't seem to.

Should work but doesn't discourage barn swallows.
The Happy Owl
By Suzyq
from Grand Forks, ND
Who would have thought this little creature would cause such a stir. The first few days we had him everyone had a comment about him. Although it is spring he became a "Snow Owl" one day when it snowed here in North Dakota. But he didn't give up his job, he kept on "hooting". It was especially funny when he scared the three very large black dogs next door. Funny thing is, he didn't seem to bother our chihuahua "Charlie".

Hoot Wouldn't Scare an Ant!!!!
By scappi

This unit just wouldn't scare away anything. I tried it for a few days and it had no effect. I'm returning this item for a credit. Save your money and buy one of those metal black cats. That seems to be working fine for me and you don't need any batteries!!!
I would buy this again
